 Pick's of the Week

This is my first time, building a web page and let me tell you it's hard work.  I found that I'm limited to just how much info I can post at this site location.   As time goes on, maybe I'll be able to find another site to host the web page on.

You might wonder why I'm doing this site. I started fishing bass tournaments at the age of 29, back in 1978 in lower Michigan, where I learned to fish for bass at age 9. A man with the nickname of T-Bone, was my teacher, he was in his 50's. This guy could go out any day and come back with a limit of five pound largemouth every time. He felt that it was better to teach other's than keep secrets and today I feel the same way, now that I'm in my 50's.  I've been fishing here in northern lower Michigan since 1968 and tournament fishing, here since 1988.

Over the years, I've always tried to teach on a one on one basis, and showed people what baits to use and pretty much the place I got them at, after the weigh-in.  While at the same time watching other's keep quite about everything they did to catch fish, like it makes any difference, the tournament is over.  You can always tell them the lure type, water depth, weeds, rocks, edges, points and pretty much the area of the lake, its over and next week, next month, next year, it's pretty much different anyway.  Each trip you have to figure them out all over again.

The Lake files I've posted, will aid in helping to locate fish on those bodies of water and have taken me years to compile, good fishing.

By downloading the EasyGPS (Free Program) and running the exe. file, you will be able to open and see all the way points within each lake file.

The EasyGPS program does not have a viewable map program built into it.  It can however download way points straight to your gps unit if so equipped, for several different makes of gps units.

The Fletcher's file I've posted is not a complete file, but at least it is a starting point.  The file numbers, show for the most part how the main river runs starting at the dam, located at the northeast end of the lake.  The distance between way points on average, is from about 50 feet to 200 feet on the river channel.  Some of the way points are outside the channel and are shown as places to check for fish.  From way point #1 to the last one headed west.  The distance as the crow flies, is just over two miles and a lot more by following the channel.  There are a few places where you'll have to fill in the blanks for yourself.

Both the Long Lake and Grand Lake files show places which are very good in both the spring and fall.  During the summer just pull away to deeper water.
