Well, first day of school was today.
There are way too many freshman. I mean, though they are only one of the four grades, they make up at least 1/3, probably closer to half of the students.
Thanks to them, we now have a reduced length break, shorter lunches, (4 lunches, instead of 3), and an extra long lunch block. Oh joy.
And the bus was insanely crowded this morning, I was lucky to find a seat.
The teachers... eh.
First block was Ms. Mura-whatever. God... that class is going to suck. Talk about being a control freak... she literally does not allow students to smile, yawn, blink, talk, or do anything that could be considered "communicating" with other students. No eye contact either, of course, because all students have elaborately designed codes based on rapid eye movement... I thought of a few smart-ass questions I could ask (that actually made sense, considering the circumstances), but she seemed the kind of person who would flunk you if you made a bad impressing at the begining of the year...
Thankfully, second block was my history teacher, Mr. P-something. He was a welcome change - he actually had a sense of humour, and no strict reliance on the rules. His class shouldn't be too bad. I have law second half with him, as well.
Third block... Trig with K. Will probably be relatively difficult, but I don't have to take a book home, which is a big +. Unfortunatly, that is because he relies heavily on notes - which I'm not particularly good at taking. At least he doesn't assign much homework...
Fourth block was my "peer tutor" block. Still need to find a teacher to peer tutor for... if anyone has any suggestions, tell me. I'm clueless, though thinking about seeing if the web page class that block needs any peer tutors.
Fifth block was extra long due to lunch, and AP programming... which would be great, except Mr. A was gone :(. We had to hang out in the library for a long time, and I had no stuff to do :-/. We technically had work, but I am incapable of programming without a computer... I just can't write code as well as I can type it.
6th block - GIS. The whole reason I took it was because I thought it was being taught by Ms. Martin, but apparently she doesn't work here anymore :-/. The other teacher seems to be decent enough, though he doesn't really know about the program we are using very well. The way I look at it, that just means I can surpass him in skill pretty early...
7th block was the chemistry class practically everyone has. Unfortunatly, I realized "everyone" doesn't seem to include marc, ben, or chris... Still a lot of people in it, though. The teacher did this thing where he set bubbles on fire, to tell people to be cautious. It was pretty simple, though - the reason the bubbles exploded was because he had MADE the bubbles with that gas that we use for the bunsen burner. Wow, you light flammable materials on fire and they burn? What a surprise... The water itself was just a little soapy, not enough to be flammable on its own.
Overall, I think I got okay classes. Well, except for English, of course.
