RIVER COUNTRY DISC GOLF COURSE 2008
I Would
like to extend this WELCOME
to you, as you visit The RIVER COUNTRY
DISC GOLF Site!
RIVER COUNTRY DISC GOLF COURSE
This site is/was formed to promote, share
knowledge of, and educate the public about Disc Golf here in Washington, and especially in the Tri-Cities.
Since
1990, our player base has grown significantly. About 200 to 300
players use our course through out the year. We get visitors from
as far as British Columbia. The course also supports a club, which you may get info on the Contact Page.
The course supports
a weekly Tri-City Disc Golf Club AcePot. The Acepot includes Saturdays & Sundays. Also
Wednesdays during the season - April thru September. This originated as a basket fund drive and still
flourishes as one. One exception to joining in this activity, is you have to be a Club Member. Membership can be obtain thru the club, of which INFO is listed elsewhere on this site. In 1996 we had a nice course with 8 pole holes
(object) and 9 homemade baskets and one Mach 3. Since then, this
event has purchased 13 new Mach II's and has encouraged sponsors
to purchase another 5! All baskets are installed for the publics
use. The club also owns 10 portable baskets. Which are used to extend
the course for the Windy River Open and may be permanently placed
into the "B" Course grounds!
We have
also awarded several aces! As of 2005, we have paid out $14,501
on a total of 46 Aces! During the 1999 Windy River, $654.00 went
to our very own Reggie Williams! Then in August 1999, $1047.00 went
to Greg Gorden. A list of the Eagle Club is located on the EVENT
PAGE. This fund continues to provide new baskets and course improvements!
Our
course is located on public land. In fact it is a National Park.
COLUMBIA PARK - KENNEWICK, WASHINGTON 99336.
This course supports 3 big cities and the surrounding, small subs.
The course is recognized by the City of Kennewick,
and The Core of Engineers. We are in hopes of acquiring more land
for more courses. Richland, Washington is looking to put a course
in their city! That would be great to have two courses so near each
other!
Best
regards,
Darrell "The Machine" Mohl

RIVER COUNTRY DISC GOLF SITE NEWS
Well this is my first piece in this new column. This is where I will report what is going on on the course. From what I'm seeing is quite a few golfers are using the course to have a great time. During the Acepot, there have been a few backups. I can see the course being crowded sometime this spring. Maybe it is time to start looking for land for another course?
I'm going to try updating the Tournament Page today. We are looking at the Windy River Open being held towards the end of April. And the Nuclear Meltdown, which is part of the Series, being held in July. These will be two great tournaments to attend. I'm not sure how many seats we'll have for each of them, but I do know that all the Series tournaments will have 22 holes each.
I'm going to sign off for now. Almost time to head down to the Course for the Sunday Acepot. Hope I can hit one and make my 6th. Pot is small since Jeremy Norris hit it Wednesday the 9th. I do believe that Kaleb will add $100 to start it up again.
