WAVE SHEAF DAY----------->>>
It was on the Wave Sheaf day that Christ, after His death, was received by the Father, in spirit, to sit at His right hand. If following Christ's resurrection and ascension the elect will also be resurrected and caught up into the clouds to meet Christ and go to the Father. (John 20:17 - Mark 16:19)
Now let us look at some similarities of the Old Testament Wave Sheaf offering and future events.
|
OLD TESTAMENT Lev. 23:9-11 |
FUTURE |
|
And the LORD spoke to Moses saying, "Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: 'When you come into the land which I give to you, and reap its harvest, |
Elect enter into God's spirit world |
|
then you shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest to the priest. |
Christ brings the elect, His firstfruits, to His Father. I Thessalonians 4:16-17 |
|
He shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted on your behalf; on the day after the Sabbath (the first day of unleavened bread) the priest shall wave it.' " |
The elect will be waved/presented to the Father, unleavened of sin having received the sacrifice of Christ's body and blood. Matthew 26:28 They will be accepted. |
This harvesting of the first crop, is like the first humans to become spirit, called firstfruits. The barley field from which the sheaf is cut symbolizes all humanity. When the field is harvested there will be found both barley, and tares (weeds). They will be separated. The elect, the barley, are changed to spirit, and will be taken up to heaven. (Luke 17:34-36) The tares, those who are not yet called, will be left behind on earth. (Mattew13:24-30 & :36-43). This day of the first resurrection is one judgment day. There will be other judgments as God's way becomes known in the future. See Resurrections
THE SHEAF RAISED AND LOWERED: Christ was raised to His Father on this day, and lowered to earth. So also the elect will be raised to heaven and be able to return to earth for forty days manifested as themselves.
Leviticus goes on to say: 'And you shall offer on that day, when you wave the sheaf, a male lamb of the first year, without blemish, as a burnt offering to the LORD. This is Jesus Christ. 'Its grain offering shall be two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil, an offering made by fire to the LORD, for a sweet aroma; and its drink offering shall be of wine, one-fourth of a hin.
Comparisons of the offerings show the attitude of Christ, and the elect.
The Lamb, as a burnt offering shows a willingness to give ones whole self.
The flour mixed with oil (grain offering) made by fire shows Christ and the elect, ground and mixed with the Holy Spirit, tried by the fire of earthly trials. It is a grain offering that is pleasing to the LORD a sweet aroma!
The drink offering shows the acceptance of the blood of Christ, shed for remittance of our sins.
It says further, 'You shall eat neither bread nor parched grain nor fresh grain until the same day that you have brought an offering to your God; it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.'
When the elect have repented, and are cleansed from sin, have offered themselves as a sacrifice, they can eat the spiritual fruits of heaven forever. (Revelation 8:1-6)
The elect will be in their promised land, their home!
