This vehicle was hit by a full size van on Interstate 84 Eastbound, when the driver decided to stop his vehicle in the middle travel lane and get out of his vehicle to remove a piece of retread tire that was in the middle of the road.  The van's driver did not expect to see a car stopped in the middle of an interstate, plowed into the car and also struck the driver who was now in the roadway.  The driver was killed on impact.  The only passenger in the car had to be extricated, and was transported by New England Life Flight to UMass Hospital in Worcester.
