Carrying the Cross

The Road to Calvary

Jesus  knew that His destiny on the cross  was coming, and often spoke of it well before it happened because

He was to be the one and only Lamb of God that takes away all sin.

A crowd of folk gathers to watch Christ carry the cross to the hill of Golgotha, where he was crucified.

Christ falls beneath the weight of the cross in the center of the scene and Simon of Cyrene helps to bear it.

A Roman soldier goads him on with the end of his pike and an elderly, bearded Simon tries to assist him.

On He goes to Golgotha with many followers.  Will you follow Him today.

Jesus said. "Take up thy cross and follow Me."

Jordan's Shore

1. On Jordan's stormy banks I stand, And cast a wishful eye To Canaan's fair and happy land, Where my possessions lie

2. O the transporting, rapturous scene, That rises to my sight; Sweet fields arrayed in living green, And rivers of delight!

3. O'er all those wide extended plains Shines one eternal day; There God the Son forever reigns, And scatters night away.

4. No chilling winds, nor poisonous breath, Can reach that healthful shore; Sickness and sorrow, pain and death, Are felt and feared no more.

5. When shall I reach that happy place, And be forever blest? When shall I see my Father's face, And in his bosom rest?

6. Filled with delight, my raptured soul Would here no longer stay: Though Jordan's waves around me roll, I'd fearless launch away.

Repeat after each line: On the other side of Jordan, Hallelujah!
