Queen Esther was
in a difficult situation. Mordecai, her cousin who had raised her,
suggested that she should plead with the King for her
people's lives The evil Haman was about to have the Jews destroyed
because Mordecai refused to bow down to him. To go before the king
without invitation was dangerous, even for the queen.
She was aware that her position in the palace would not keep her from being
killed along with all the other Jews. Mordecai, informed her that if she
remained silent, someone else would be sent to save the Jews. Then
he suggested that she may have been placed in her royal position in
order to save her people.
Esther asked
Mordecai to gather the people to fast and pray for three days and
nights, while she and her maids did the same within the
palace. She was then ready to face the King to the extent of
losing her very life. And in one of
the most thrilling events in history, Esther' obedience saved her
people.
Sometimes difficult situations
in our lives could be an openings to carry
out a particular mission for God? What an opportunity to serve
Him, to be a valuable tool in His hands! Our part is to be
available, to be ready for His leading, and to be responsive
to Him when he calls us for- - SUCH A TIME AS THIS
Prayer
"Father, give me the courage to take whatever steps are necessary
in order to obey your will, wherever I may be."
