Lord's Prayer

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed by thy Name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen

Does Our Prayer Make God Angry

"O Lord God of Hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?" -Psalm 80: 4

If our prayers are to have success, we have to pray as God directed us to pray. Pray with all our heart and not with faithless, ineffectual praying. Our prayers cannot expect much result when we live an un-devoted life and come to God in haste, expecting the best in life. Thomas Adams said " If our prayers reaches the Kingdom of Heaven, we need to be sincere and live a holy life. A presumptuous prayer profanes the name of God instead of adoring it." Our prayers can anger God when we pray as the Pharisee did, or when we pray with an unforgiving heart.

The LORD is far from the wicked: but he hears the prayer of the righteous. Proverbs 15:29 He that turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination. Pro. 28:9 The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. 1 Peter 4:7

That he should be angry even with our prayers is a bitter grief. The verse ask, "How long Lord God of Hosts, will thou be angry?" I do not want God to be angry with my prayers. I desire my prayers to be acceptable in God's sight, so He will hear our supplication in Heaven. Verse 3 says: " Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved." That God should be angry with my prayers is a grief of mind.

Receive our prayers O Lord. Let our prayers be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of our hands as the evening sacrifice. The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to You Lord: but the prayer of the upright is Your delight. Proverbs 15:8
