WHISPER A PRAYER
WHISPER A PRAYER IN THE MORNING
WHISPER A PRAYER AT NOON
WHISPER A PRAYER IN THE EVENING
TO KEEP YOUR HEART IN TUNE.
HE LISTENS FOR OUR WHISPERS
The Smallest Prayer
God hears the very smallest prayer,
Nor sends a cross too great to bear,
And though we stumble now and then,
He always picks us up again.
There is no moment day or night,
When we are hidden from His sight,
No wall too high nor door too stout,
To keep His loving care without.
His ways are wiser than our own,
His strength remains when ours is gone,
We must not doubt nor question why,
He sends the answers by and by.
And this I know within my heart,
All darkness fades and shadows part,
And that sometime, somehow, somewhere,
God sees and answers every prayer!

Teach Me to Pray
Teach me to pray, Lord, teach me to pray;
This is my heart-cry, day unto day;
I long to know Thy will and Thy way;
Teach me to pray, Lord, teach me to pray.
Power in prayer, Lord, power in prayer,
Here 'mid earth's sin and sorrow and care;
Men lost and dying, souls in despair;
O give me power, power in prayer!
My weakened will, Lord Thou canst renew;
My sinful nature Thou canst subdue;
Fill me just now with power anew;
Power to pray and power to do!
Living in Thee, Lord, and Thou in me;
Constant abiding, this is my plea;
Grant me Thy power; boundless and free;
Power with men and power with Thee.

Praying Fingers
Many Children learn to count on their fingers, but a nurse once taught a child to pray "on
his fingers." This was her method:
Your thumb is the digit nearest to your heart, so pray first for those who are closest to
you. Your own needs, of course, should be included as well as those of your beloved family
and friends.
The second finger is the one used for pointing. Pray for those who point you toward the
truth, whether at church or school. Pray for your teachers, mentors, pastors, and those
who inspire your faith.
The third finger is the tallest. Let it stand for the leaders in every sphere of life.
Pray for those in authority -- both within the body of Christ and those who hold office in
various areas of government.
The fourth finger is the weakest, as every pianist knows. Let it stand for those who are
in trouble and pain -- the sick, injured, abused, wounded, or hurt.
The little finger is the smallest. Let it stand for those who often go unnoticed,
including those who suffer abuse and deprivation. What a great tool to use in teaching
Children how to pray for themselves and others.
Paraphrase of the Lord's Prayer
OUR FATHER most holy,
our Creator and Redeemer,
our Savior and our Comforter.
WHO ART IN HEAVEN
in the angels and the saints,
giving them light to know you,
since you, Lord, are light;
setting them afire to love you,
since you, Lord, are love;
dwelling in them
and giving them fullness of joy,
since you, Lord,
are the supreme, eternal good,
and all good comes from you.
HALLOWED BE THY NAME,
may we grow to know you better and better
and so appreciate the extent of your favors,
the scope of your promises,
the sublimity of your majesty,
and the profundity of your judgments.
THY KINGDOM COME,
so that you may reign in us by your grace,
and bring us to your kingdom,
where we shall see you clearly,
love you perfectly and,
happy in your company, enjoy you forever.
THY WILL BE DONE ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN,
so that we may love you with all our heart,
by always having you in mind;
with all our soul,
by always longing for you;
with all our mind,
by determining to seek your glory in everything;
and with all our strength,
of body and soul,
by lovingly serving you alone.
May we love our neighbors as ourselves,
and encourage them all to love you,
by bearing our share
in the joys and sorrows of others,
while giving offense to no one.
GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD,
your beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ,
so that we may remember and appreciate
how much He loved us,
and everything He said and did and suffered.
AND FORGIVE US OUR TRESPASSES,
in your immeasurable mercy,
by virtue of the passion of your Son.
AS WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO TRESPASS AGAINST US,
and if we do not forgive perfectly,
Lord, make us forgive perfectly,
so that, for love of You,
we may really forgive our enemies,
and fervently pray to You for them,
returning no one evil for evil,
but trying to serve You in everyone.
AND LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION,
be it hidden or obvious,
sudden or persistent.
BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL,
past, present or future,
Amen.
Prayer Answered, A
I went to my room one day and locked the door and got down upon my knees before Almighty
God and prayed to Him mightily for victory at Gettysburg. I told Him that this war was
His, and our cause His cause, that we could not stand another Fredericksburg or
Chancellorsville. Then and there I made a solemn vow to Almighty God that if He would
stand by our boys at Gettysburg, I would stand by Him, and He did stand by you boys, and I
will stand by Him. And after that, I don’t know how it was, and I cannot explain it, soon a
sweet comfort crept into my soul. The feeling came that God had taken the whole business
into His own hands, and things would go right at Gettysburg, and that was why I had no
fears about you.

No Time
I knelt to pray but not for long
I had too much to do
Must hurry off and get to work
For bills would soon be due
And as I said a hurried prayer
Jumped up from off my knee
My Christian duty now was done
My soul could be at ease
All through the day I had no time
To speak a word of Cheer
No time to speak of Christ to friend
They'd laugh at me I feared
No time- No time too much to do
That was my constant cry
No time to give to those in need
At last it was time to die
And when before the lord I came
I stood with down cast eyes
Within His hand held a book
It was the BOOK OF LIFE
He looked in the book and said
Your name I can not find
I once was going to write it down
But never found the time
Driver's Prayer
Dear Lord, before I take my place today behind the wheel,
Please let me come with humble heart before Thy throne to kneel
And pray that I am fit to drive each busy thoroughfare,
And that I keep a watchful eye, lest some small child be there.
And keep me thinking constantly about the Golden Rule,
When driving past the playground zones or by some busy school.
Then when I stop to give someone his right to cross the street,
Let me my brother's keeper be and spare a life that's sweet.
Please make me feel this car I drive You give me to enjoy,
And that its purpose is to serve mankind, not to destroy.

Time Keeps on Slipping
I knelt to pray but not for long,
I had too much to do.
I had to hurry and get to work
For bills would soon be due.
So I knelt and said a hurried prayer,
And jumped up off my knees.
My Christian duty was now done
My soul could rest at ease.
All day long I had no time
To spread a word of cheer.
No time to speak of Christ to friends,
They'd laugh at me I'd fear.
No time, no time, too much to do,
That was my constant cry,
No time to give to souls in need
But at last the time, the time to die.
I went before the Lord,
I came, I stood with downcast eyes.
For in his hands God held a book;
It was the book of life.
God looked into his book and said
"Your name I cannot find.
I once was going to write it down...
But never found the time."

God's Rainbow
Rainbows appear after mighty storms,
When things look their very worst,
Just when the skies are darkest gray,
Look for the rainbow first.
The rainbow is a sign of God's promise,
That He will guide us through any storm,
That He will see us through all our troubles,
No matter what their form.
When you feel battered by life's storms,
And you are filled with doubt and dismay;
Just remember God's rainbow is coming---
It's only a prayer away.
