You've found my page dedicated to my favorite little town, PUNXSUTAWNEY, PA!!

Punxsutawney is a great little town in western Pa. Its Just full of friendly people, and PHIL of course!! If you are unfamiliar with the legend (WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN??) every year on Feb. 2nd huge crowds gather in Punxsy to await Phil's weather prediction. If he sees his shadow, it's 6 more weeks of winter!! (ARRRRRRGH!!) If there is no shadow, spring is just around the corner!!!

PUNXSY TIDBITS

"Punxsutawney" is derived from the Indian phrase "Ponksad-Uteny" which translates to "Town of the Sandflies" The first official trip to Gobbler's Knob was in 1887 The movie "GROUNDHOG DAY" (1993) starring Bill Murray was actually filmed in Woodstock, Illinois
During Prohibition Phil threatened 60 weeks of winter on the town if he was not permitted a drink In 1986 Phil went to Washington to meet President Ronald Reagan. In 1987 he met then Governor Dick Thornburg. Shadow------97
