ARROYO GRANDE -- Organic Chef Tim Bollé of Affaire L'Amour Organic Catering held a Feast in the Field at Rutiz Farms on The Pike off Elm St. in Arroyo Grande. It was the fourth such event organized by Chef Bollé and featured wines from Rancho Arroyo Grande Vineyards and Wolff Vineyards, meats from Charter Oak Style Meats, Abalone from The Abalone Farm and produce from Rutiz Farms.
PBS production company Film Garden Entertainment, filmed an episode as part of the popular series, "The Endless Feast" released in the spring of 2007. The hosts of the episode were Chef Tim Bollé, wife Stefani Bollé, Farmer Jerry Rutiz, Eva Scott of Rancho Arroyo Grande Vineyards and Debra Garrison of the "Central Coast Grown" campaign in San Luis Obispo County. Guest Chef Evan Treadwell of Lido Restaurant at Dolphin Bay Resort also provided his culinary expertise.
The event featured a multi-course meal prepared by Chef Bollé and Chef Treadwell and was served family style. Complementary wines with each course were described by Eva Scott of Rancho Arroyo Grande Vineyards, Jean-PierreWolff of Wolff Vineyards, and a farm tour was conducted by host Jerry Rutiz.
The first Feast in the Field was held at Huasna Valley Farm in September of 2001, and was a great success, bringing together about 50 lovers of fine food, and both local farmers and winemakers. Other events have been held at Casa de Caballos Winery in Templeton and Wolff Vineyards in Edna Valley.
More Feasts are in the works.
