I guess it all started many years ago when I first got interested in Amateur Radio and learned Morse Code (CW).  Many nights in the radio room talking to other CW operators intrigued me, and I often wondered what it would be like to operate aboard ship.  Why I didn't join the Navy, I haven't a clue, but the intrigue of operating from a ship is still with me even though CW doesn't play the same role it once did in maritime communications.
