What a wonderful day we had!
Desert Council #46 convened
at the China Buffet in Yakima at 10:30 AM on August 5, 2006, called to order by
Sovereign Master Lewis Peck and opened in due form. Nine Brethren were present.
Offices pro temed were SW by B. John Hardin, SD by B. Harold Rothgeb and JD by
B. Les Vannice. B John Bradfield was welcomed as a visitor.
Minutes of the previous
council were approved as read and published and the Treasurer’s report was
approved and accepted.
No bills were presented. The
Recorder reported the expenditure of $142.25 for 2 complete sets of rituals and
6 lapel pins.
Introductions of
distinguished visitors: Eugene Alexander, HP of Pasco #33, Grand Chapter Web
Master and Grand Captain General of the Grand Commandery of Washington, KT.
MIC J. Robert Yingling, IM of
Zadoc #23, PIGM of R&SM of WA. Also, MICs John Hardin, Eugene Alexander,
PIGMs of R&SM of WA. and MIC John Bradfield, PIGM
of Cryptic Masons of OR.
SK Eugene Cook, EC of
Cataract Commandery #3 in Spokane and RESK Lewis Peck, PGC of KT in WA.
A brief memorial for our
passed Brothers Les Reynolds and Hiram Colburn was held.
No old business.
New business: Floyd Morse was
recommended for membership, nominated and elected.
The next council will be held
at the Walla Walla Masonic Center on December 2,
2006. This is our annual meeting and elections and installation of officers
will be the main business of the day.
Papers presented and read: An
original paper entitled Philanthropies by B. John Hardin was introduced and
read.
An original paper on the
Great Lights of Masonry, a bible presentation by Gordon Scott was read by B.
Mark A. Scott.
The council was freed from
restraint for a lunch break and fellowship at 12:00 Noon and reconvened at 1:00
PM.
An original paper designating
and explaining the Landmarks of Masonry to be presented to Grand Lodge was presented
and read by B. Lewis Peck. All papers were well received and copies presented
to the Recorder for archive.
Feedback: The Brethren were
pooled as to their feelings for the format for the AMD. Results showed that it
was congenial and gave a feeling of closer fellowship and well-being in this
informal setting. All were quite happy with the events of the day.
No further business coming
before the Council, SM Lewis Peck closed in due form at 1:45 PM, peace and
harmony prevailing.
