Emmett died June 11, 1975 in Memphis, TN. His body was interred at Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis, TN.

He married Lottie Ellen Little 1910 in Pontotoc, Pontotoc Co, MS. Lottie was born October 28, 1892 in Eldorado, AK. Lottie was the daughter of John D. Little. Lottie died November 29, 1980 in Memphis, TN. Her body was interred at Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis, Shelby Co, TN.
