The Rosette Nebula is a large
emission nebula surrounding the open cluster NCG 2244. When viewed with an O-III or
narrowband filter, it is an impressive object in small telescopes.
Instrument: ST-10XME/Nikkor
300mm f/4 lens
F-ratio: f/5.6
Exposures: RRGB: R 7 x 12 minutes, binned 1x1: G 8 x 3 minutes,
binned 2x2: B 8 x 3 minutes, binned 2x2
Date: February 5, 2005
Location: Landers, California, USA
Technical Notes: Exposures were sigma combined, and the RGB image
assembled in Registar 1.0. A Gaussian Blur of 1 pixel was applied to the RGB image and the
dim portions of the luminance image. A high-pass filter of 4 pixels was selectively
applied to the bright portions of the luminance image. The RGB image was duplicated and
combined with the original using Soft Light to enhance color.
