The Veil Nebula represents the remnant of a supernova that occurred about 15,000 years ago. It is located at a distance of approximately 2,500 light-years. The brighter portion on the left (east) is NGC 6992/5, and the portion on the right is NGC 6960, next to the fourth-magnitude star 52 Cygni. The portion at top center is known as Pickering's Triangular Wisp. Visually, the Veil is greatly enhanced by an O-III filter, and is a spectacular sight in a large aperture telescope.
