His first marriage was to Iona Shaner in the late 80's, who died a year later. She died of consumption. Margaret Anne Compton was his second wife.Death notice stated he died near Hardman, Oregon 3-29-30, with a heart attack. He was 64 years, 11 months and 18 days. Born in Forest Grove Oregon 4-11-1865 and Moved from Forest Grove to Waitsburg Wa. when still a child. In 1885 they moved to Eight Mile and he lived in Morrow County thereafter.Those surviving at the time of his death were: Sons: Henry James Knighten, Wilbert Alden Knighten, Nelson Isaac Knighten, Okey Elmer Knighten, Daughter: Myrtle M. Imel of Oregon City, Oregon; Brothers: James A. Knighten of Pendleton, Oregon, Charles W. Knighten of Hardman, Oregon, Louis E. Knighten of Hardman, Oregon, Frederick Knighten of
Pendleton, Oregon Edgar A. Knighten of Monument, Oregon ; and Sisters: Mrs. M. E. Bellenbrock of Chehalis Wn, and Mrs. R. H. Warren of Benton City, Wn. Robert brought the children backto Oregon, leaving Henry, Wilbert, and baby Myrtle with Valentine and Minnie Stoker of Oregon City. (we think Minnie was a sister to Margaret Anne (Maggie) Compton). Elmer and Nelson (Later known as Mike) came to Eight Mile, Oregon where Elmer lived with his Grandmother, Rebecca, and an uncle (Charles). Nelson stayed with Lewis Knighten and his wife Retta (Ashbough(), who had a son, Neal F. Robert died in 1930. He, Henry, Wilbert and Nelson are all buried in the IOOF Cemetery near Hardman. Elmer is buried in the Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Condon, and Myrtle in Ione.

Henry, Wilbert and Nelson never married, and lived most of their adult life in Morrow County, Oregon.
