Mrs. Minnie Scobee

Mrs. Minnie Scobee, 94, who was a native Oregonian and a lifetime resident of this area, died Friday morning January 9th at the Forest View Convalescent Home in Forest Grove, following an illness since September of 1969.

Funeral services for Mrs. Scobee were held Monday January 12th at the Lincoln Memorial Park Chapel in Portland with concluding committal rites at the Lincoln Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The Rev. John Kelly, minister of the United Church of Christ of Forest Grove officiated at the services with arrangements entrusted to the Fuiten Mortuary.

Mrs. Scobee was born at Suver inPolk County, Oregon, the daughter of Pioneer Oregon families. Her mother's family came to Oregon over the Barlow Trail in 1852 and her mother was born near Oregon City in 1855, and her father's family came later. Mrs. Scobee moved from PolkCounty to Clackamas County with her family as a young girl and she was united in marriage to Luther R. Scobee at Oregon City on September 19, 1896. After her marriage they lived in Portland where for many years she was an active member of theHighland Congregational Church and Aid Societies. Mr. Scobee preceded her in death in Portland in 1931 and in 1939 Mrs. Scobee moved to Forest Grove and had made her home here since that time. She was a member of the United Church of Christ of Forest Grove.

Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Max (Mildred) Reeher, Forest Grove; two grand daughters, Mrs. Harold (Maxine) Carlson, Seattle and Mrs. Richard (Ruth) Boyle; Portland and two great grand children. Also surviving is a brother, Elmer Londergan, Portland and a nephew, Elmer Londergan, Beaver Creek and a niece, Mrs. James (Genevieve) Sullivan, Oregon City. End of article.
