Grading Policy

The final grade will be calculated based upon the following:

20%        Homework (including mathematical reflections)

10%       Math binder

10 %       Accelerated Math Grade

60%        Test and quizzes, problem-solving, projects

Homework

Ř     Given almost daily and always reviewed in some manner by the teacher.

Ř     Assignment is always posted on my web page by 4:00 p.m. (click on the calendar day)

Ř    Must be completed in the proper format

§        Name, date, and page number(s) written in top, right-hand corner

§        Homework should be completed in pencil and all work must be shown!

Ř    Grading Rubric for homework:

§        Satisfactory (S) on-time assignments earn 100%

§       Late but satisfactory (LS) assignments earn 80%

§        Unsatisfactory (U) or missing assignments earn 0%

§        Unsatisfactory assignments can be corrected and handed in to receive 70% (R)

Math Binder

Students are required to maintain a binder with 6 sections. It will be collected and scored at the end of every unit. See separate handout for further information.

Accelerated Math

This is an individualized, computer-based program that is based upon curricular recommendations of National Council of Teacher’s of Mathematics (NCTM). The program is used to systematically remediate and/or strengthen skills from previously taught skills. The program is not used to provide instruction on skills that are new to the students. Students work toward a mastery goal for the quarter that is set (and occasionally adjusted) by the teacher. Percentage of goal mastered is translated into a numerical average at the end of each quarter.

Tests & Quizzes

Test and quizzes will always be announced and at least two days notice will be given to provide time to prepare.
