News from September 10th 2004 "incident"

Also on (an alarming) personal note, I had an immensely disturbing experience last night.  My good friend, Adam H. came over to relax a bit and chat.  We stepped outside for a cigarette.  I looked up from tying my shoe to see an old, beat up Safari minivan slowly pulling up with the windows down, less than 10ft from where we stood.  The lone young man inside was silent, but glared at us with a terribly menacing, utterly threatening look in his eyes.  We asked if we could "help" him, but he said nothing, just continuing to stare me down.  After a few more moments, he started to slowly drive away.  Adam and I barely had time to look at each other before this man put his van in reverse, backed up, then parked again 10 ft. from where we were.  He continued to stare evilly and threateningly, but said nothing.  Then he motioned with his finger for us to approach him, never breaking his stare.  I shook my head at him.  The guy motioned again for us (or one of us) to approach.  I shook my head again, and he was about to get out of his van when I pulled my phone out of my pocket and typed in 911.  When he saw this, he took off.  We didn't have time to get his plate number, as we rushed into the house and immediately locked all windows and doors, closing all blinds.  We were both quite shaken by this unexpected and unprovoked incident.  Adam said it was best to leave, and I agreed.  I grabbed my dog, and we left as a team, going to our respective cars and driving off in different directions.  I called him soon after to verify that we were both OK...and I spent the night somewhere else.

I called the police and gave a recorded, detailed reportThe officer said he thinks he knows who it was (as he had previously been arrested for illicit drugs), and that he had seen that particular van around a lot lately.  They're going to try to find out for sure who it was and what it was all about, and will be keeping a close eye out for his Safari van.  They just told me to be careful, and if *anything* else fishy happens, to call 911 immediately.

As I post this, I'm still not sure what I'm going to do tonight.  I figure if something bad is going to happen, it will occur within the next night or two (hopefully?).  I'm trying to decide if I want to remain here and see if anything does or doesn't happen, or if I'd rather split before it gets dark out (which is coming up soon).  Now I wait for something, or for nothing.  It may have been a totally random, one-time thing, or perhaps it isn't.  I'd rather err on the side of caution.  However, if this individual is intent on finding me, nothing is going to happen unless my car is parked in its stall (meaning I'm likely home).  I've never seen this guy before in my life, and we did nothing whatsoever to provoke such a threatening experience.  We obviously didn't want to approach him because he could've had a knife or gun waiting.  Who knows for sure?  But in his unwavering, fixated stare, it was as if the devil himself was in his eyes and face.  Anyone who knows Adam H. can ask him about the whole deal too.  My immediate neighbors are great people, and when I told them what happened, they vowed to call the police right away if they saw the same van or anything else suspicious, and that we would "take care of each other".  I know I can count on him and his wife.  All I can ask of any of you is prayer that this was nothing, and a one-time incident.  The last thing I need is to become a target for gangster thugs (I'm not stupid, I know what people like this are capable of doing if inclined, and I've had other highly unwarranted dangerous/ life-threatening experiences in years past).  I'll keep you all posted.  Thanks for any and all thoughts and prayers!

Description:  Not that I expect this to be fruitful, but for the record, It was a young, possibly mid-20's male, Hispanic, with short dark hair and possibly a thin goatee.  He was skinny and had a *somewhat* long face (nothing major).  He was driving a 1980's model Safari minivan (the tiny boxy ones), with several different colored pieces that must've been salvaged from a junk-yard.  I remember blue, and I think some kind of golden-tan or similar color (it was dark out).  This occurred around 9-9:30pm on Friday, September 10, 2004.
