Discipline Plan

EIGHTH GRADE DISCIPLINE PLAN

We are delighted that your child is in our class this year. We can all look forward to many exciting and rewarding experiences as the year progresses.

We know that life-long success depends on self-discipline; we have developed a Classroom Discipline Plan that affords every student the opportunity to manage his or her own behavior.  Your child deserves the most positive educational climate possible for academic growth. This plan, therefore, will be in effect at all times.

Assignment Books

An assignment book is provided for each student.  Students are responsible for copying class work and homework assignments daily in each academic class. These books are taken home daily to be reviewed by the parents. Important notes to parents may be sent in this assignment book. If it is necessary to send a note, it is stapled into the assignment book with a notation to the parent of an “attached note.  Our team uses these books to set up conferences, indicate demerits, communicate behavior problems, send progress reports, etc.

Class Rules

Being in the eighth grade shows that the student has advanced in age and maturity, therefore, students are expected to demonstrate maturity and take responsibility for their actions and learning. In addition to team and school rules the following classroom rules will apply in science class.

bullet Be Prepared
bullet Be Respectful
bullet Be Seated
bullet Be Quiet
bullet Be Safe (walk everywhere, keep hands, feet and objects to yourself).

Consequences

bullet Warning

Consequences

bullet Warning- not necessarily an individual warning.
bullet Removal from laboratory room for the remainder of the period and the next lab.
bullet Barred from laboratory for a nine-week period.  Alternate written assignments to be completed in ISS

Note: Extreme misbehavior will cause immediate removal and referral to the office.
