The Story Continues: Part II

Corwin smiled down at her, "You are what has brought me my lady." Susan looked at him curiously, "Me? Why do you say that?" Corwin sat in the grass beside her and Brittany, "I came because you have been gone so long and was concerned. And more so I came because I was curious when you would be coming home." She sighed and looked down at Brittany, "Things here are so different then they are in Camelot. Here I have time to think, time to watch my daughter grow, and time to be at peace. I truly do not know if I want to go back there Corwin. What is there but sorrow and loss?" Corwin frowned at this, "Is that all you truly see? And do you think that by staying here you are allowing the healing to continue? This is only the first step Susan. You have many more to take to heal the wounds that fate has dealt you." Susan looked down as Brittany stirred and opened her eyes smiling at her Uncle Corrie. Corwin looked at Brittany and smiled, "Why hello little one, did you sleep well?" Brittany nodded and got up and went over to hug her Uncle then looked back at her mother. Susan smiled, "Go play for a bit sweety. I need to talk to Corwin." She nodded and skipped off down the path. Susan looked back to Corwin, "I have been able to spend a lot of time with her since we came here. She has been so happy, how can I take her back there?" Corwin stood and offered her a hand up, "Why can you not make her just as happy in Camelot. Happiness is not measured by where you are but how you live the life you have. You have to face what has happened or do you prefer to spend your remaining years running from the past?" She took his hand and stood, "I am not running but here the pain seems so long ago. I do not know if I could handle having it brought back to the surface for myself and all to see again." Corwin led her down the path as they talked, "You have strengths that you have not even begun to explore. And if you stay here you will never know of them and you will never again know what it is to love or to live. Susan you will be dead in all ways but fact. In Camelot you have friends and in Camelot you have the chance to love and to see Brittany grow and find the same. Would you deny this to yourself and to all those that care for you?"

They continued down the path until they saw Brittany chasing after a butterfly and they both stopped silently watching the innocence of youth.....not yet knowing the harshness life can bring. Susan turned to Corwin, "You have been of great comfort to me Corwin. I will think on your words." Corwin smiled at her, "That is all I can ask of you Susan...and all I ever will"
