Camelot

I believe in magic.

I believe there are certain things that touch our lives that bring a moment of awe or joy that seems to fill our souls:

A newborn child.
Lightning.
The ocean after a storm.
The first night of Spring peepers.
A great book.
Sitting quietly on a porch or deck with someone and watching the sunset. Music of whatever sort that makes you want to sing or dance.
Looking at a family tree and realizing this is what has come to produce YOU and wondering what your ancestors were like.
Seeing a wild animal.
A nightsky seen from a country meadow.
The ability to touch the lives of people continents away with a keyboard.
Autumns in New England where orange leaves against a deep blue sky make you think of heaven.
Falling asleep to the sound of rain falling.
Waking to a world covered with snow.

I believe there are moments, or seconds, or even days when it all seems to come together so perfectly you want it too last forever. But it doesn't. It can't. Because if it did last, then it would not be special, and being special is what makes each thing we feel magical exactly that. So, cherish each of those times and savour the memory. Share them with someone else while you can. Use them to lighten the darkness when it comes, because it will.
And never, never, stop looking for magic.
Who knows?
You might see a dragon.
