Guardian of the Lost

Null, Guardian of the Lost

Deity of Death and the Dead

Symbol: A circle, divided diagonally into white and black semicircles

As Guardian of the Lost, Null shepherds the souls of the dead to their final resting places. Legend says that Null splits his time between the worlds of his mother (Fate) and his father (Asgorath), and took to guiding lost spirits in his journeys between the worlds.

Although no official priesthood in his name exists (his mother forbids him from aiding mortals while they are on Asgor), Null is revered by many mortals as the protector after death. Individuals who've just lost someone close to them will sometimes make offerings to Null to speed the dearly departed's soul to its final resting place. Of course, any worship of Null is forbidden in the Griffon Kingdom, but even this does not prevent reverence of the Deathwyrm.

Some evil people worship an aspect of Null known as the Reaver. In this aspect, Null is a cruel, heartless creature that enjoys death and suffering, and he blesses others who serve him in this capacity. Some mages believe that Nerull (the Reaper, Lord of the Undead) is actually a mortal incarnation of Null the Reaver.

Incarnation: In all myths, Null appears as a region of impenetrable blackness in the shape of a huge dragon. He is surrounded by an aura of numbing cold, and his touch is instant death.
