Rhiannon's Song

Rhiannon of the Silver Bells,
the ancient druid legend tells
(sometimes with music set to words)
has at her call three wondrous birds
each with great powers. It is said.
The first of these can wake the dead.
The second's song they swear can keep
A man in seven year's deep sleep.
And with it's call the third, they say
Can take all mortal ills away,
Heal all ills and make wounds whole
And even sooth the troubled soul.

Three birds of gold and white and green,
Familiars of the faerie queen,
Those who have chanced to hear Her birds
Cannot express in mortal words
What happened to them when they fell
Beneath the beauty of their spell.
But all throughout their life they long
To hear once more Rhiannon 's song
