The Banishment

As with all the races, Dragons have their legends that have passed down through the ages. This one dates back to a time when humans were still a very young people.

Asgorath soared above the landscape, his wings moving with no sound. This day had turned out beautiful unlike the day before when clouds seemed unwilling to allow the slightest hint of the day. He had recently taken an interest in the hunting people in these hills who had begun to build a small village near his home. "They have learned to work together by unstanding that they can survive by pooling their food and men for the hunt", he thinks to himself. He would soon be at their village and they would watch him as always. They seemed as curious about him as he was of them.

He flew on toward the village as a feeling of distress passed over him. The keen eyes of the great dragon could see a storm near the village but it seemed unusual as no other clouds were in the late morning sky and the wind was little more then a slight breeze. As he grew closer he could see it was directly over the village, bolts of lightning had scarred the ground and turned their fury on the hillside. A final blast from the lightning seemed to blow the side literally off the mountain sending it cascading down into the valley and thus the village. As suddenly as it seemed to appear, it vanished leaving no trace of the clouds nor of the village.

Asgorath landed upon a rock ledge over-looking the valley, his heart saddened by the loss of the village and by the knowledge of who was responsible. he murmured a single word, " Daragath". After saying some words of peace for these people he leapt into the air and flew to find Naergath.

Naergath seemed to to be waiting as Asgorath Landed. "I know why you have come brother, and you know what my answer has to be." "The balance has to be maintained." Asgorath's eyes seemed to glow," The balance won't bring those innocent people back." " He does not kill for food or for gain even, he does it for the sake of doing it." " His evil is too great for any on this world to survive." He grows stronger by the day and soon will be too strong for us to contain, What of balance then? " Naergath pondered this for a moment relizing his brother was, of course right. Asgorath looked at him a moment then leapt into the air," I will be at the keep you bring him to me by whatever means you can, together here we can seal him away and hopefully give the young races a chance to live.

The rest of legend becomes vague but Daragath was sealed away to never again endanger the world with his hatred of it. There is mention of ways for him to be released, as well as mention of those who might defeat him were this to happen. The seal stands intact to this day but the days have grown dark with evil in the land and the chances of Daragath returning seems more truth then legend.
