Dear Dr. Nucleus:
Not that I am complaining, after all, we can sure use the rainfall, but why does it always rain right after I wash my car? I held out as long as I could but could no longer see out the windshield. I washed my car yesterday afternoon and this morning it is raining.
Curious Minds Want to Know
Dear Minds,
You have observed a phenomenon that baffled Scientists until the 20th century. On March 21, 1947 Sir Henri DeSoto, a noted French auto-eroticist, had just washed his Renault. He exclaimed "Car beaux!" which meant that he thought his runabout looked good enough to eat with a spoon. Just then it rained ("hydrated" in Scientific terms). To DeSoto it was obviously a case of "carbeauxhydrate" and so it was. We American Scientists have shortened it to "carbohydrate".
The reason for carbohydrates was found in the carbonium ion (first discovered by Dr. Claude Raines) which act as static electricity attractors for cloud formations. The carbonium ions generated by the freshly washed car pull the clouds over and Nature does the rest.
Let this be a lesson to you, never let a Frenchman wash your car unless you are prepared to be responsible for catastrophic floods and torrential downpours.
Dryly,
Dr. Nucleus
