Beach Scenes
Sun-shattered,
the bay slides
and melts like an acid
revelation, coke glass edges
tumble and crash on jasper-stoned shore.
The sun cares nothing
for waves and shards. It sits,
a red-turbaned pasha, skimming
above all on flying-carpet stratus.
The tide goes out.
Stern mother cat calls back
watery children and old men
walk the beaches
alone.
