Backwoods Fantasy Football Rules 2010           *updated July26th, 2010*

 Print-Friendly Version

BACKWOODS Fantasy Football XVI, 2010

1. Draft Day will be held Sunday, August 29th, 2010. Starting around 3pm and lasting until all have drafted.

2. Each franchise will cost $20. Due no later than Draft Day.

 3. Fantasy Rosters will go as follows (same as last year):

Each team must have at least 1Quarterback(QB), 1Kicker(K), 1Defence(D/S), and 1Offensive Line(OL), these 4 positions will be drafted and scored on a NFL team basis. (So instead of drafting Peyton Manning, you would draft Colts QB)

Running Backs(RB) and Wide Receivers(WR) will be drafted individually by name, with each Fantasy team having 2RB’s and 3WR’s

Each team will also have 6 free slots, these slots can be filled with any type of player. That makes 15 total players per franchise.

 4. The number of Drafts on Draft Day will depend on attendance. We will separate randomly into evenly numbered groups (with 3-6 teams in each group). Each group will Draft together and form one Win/loss Record Division. These Drafts will be totally separate from each other and all players may be selected only once per draft. Each Draft will consist of 15 rounds. Random numbers will be drawn to determine which Draft and which order each owner will pick in. Players may trade pick orders before a draft. We will use the standard 1-x, x-1, 1-x  format for order of picks each alternating round.

5. After the Draft, owners can waive and draft as many free-agent players as they wish. Each transaction will cost $1.00 American. Transaction money must be paid in advance, or at the time the transaction is requested.  Owners will be reimbursed for unused transaction money at the end of the season.

Each week the team with the lowest point total has first dibs on one free-agent until Monday at 3pm. Note: this rule does not come into effect until the second week begins.

Trades between teams will be free, but are subject to being vetoed (which has never happened yet). No lop-sided trades on my watch. Trades are only allowed within the same record division, (the teams you draft with).

No trades are allowed after the 10th week ends. Only teams in the Playoffs can make transactions in playoff weeks.

6. Backwoods FFL weekly scoring is based on a 9-player roster, but uses a Potential Point system. This means that you will get the best possible total among all 15 players on your team. However, you will only score points for the following 9 positions:

1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1K, 1D/S, 1OL.  Each week, you will score your best options that fit this line-up. (example, you can have 2 or 3 QB’s if u want, but you will only score for the best one each week). This is why proper use of the 6 free slots are crucial to any franchise; none of your players will be reserves.

Players can only be scored for the positions that the NFL lists them as. For our purposes, a Tight End is a Wide Receiver.

7. With Backwoods FFL’s Potential Points system, starting line-ups do not need to be called in each week. All transactions must be posted to the Transaction Forum before FRIDAY AT MIDNIGHT

***The exception to this rule will be the NEW Thursday game rule: Players involved in Thursday games will be locked as of Wednesday at Midnight. Transactions involving Thursday players will be due by Wednesday night at midnight, while players in the rest of the league will be due as normal on Midnight Friday.). Transactions not on the forum are not official and you will not own a player until it is posted. If you don’t have a Computer you can call me or another Owner to post the transactions for you.  But you always score your best combination of the nine starters, so barring injury or poor performance you ‘could’ never have to change a thing all year.

8. Each Franchise needs a name of less than twenty-five letters. (smaller the better)

9. -------------------------------------Scoring will go as follows:--------------------------------------

 Team QB only:                                                                 All players:

Thrown Touchdown(TD): 8pts                                          Scored TD: 12
Thrown conversion: 2                                                         Scored conversion: 4
           Thrown Interception(INT): -3                                               Thrown TD: 8
1 point for each 20 yards passing*                                   Thrown conversion: 2
           1 point for each 10 yards Rushing/Receiving*

Running Backs & Wide receivers:                                          Kicking:
1 point per reception                                                                  Point after TD:2
1 point for every 10 yards gained from scrimmage                Field Goal 1-29yards: 6
                                                                                                       FG 30-39yds: 7
Defense and special teams:                                                  FG 40-49yds: 8
 Fumble: 4    Sack: 2                                                                    FG 50+yds: 10
 INT: 4     TD: 12
 Safety: 8                                                                                         Offensive Line:
Subtract NFL opponent’s final score from 25,                           1pt for each 10yds rushing*
Get points equal to result.                                                           1pt for each 20yds passing*
Example: allow 15pts= 10pts for fantasy team                          -4 points per sack allowed
Allow 30pts= loss of 5pts for fantasy team                                Subtract 25 from NFL team’s score,
                                                                                                                        Get points equal to result.

*Because of the program that calculates the scores,  team’s rushing/receiving and passing yard points are averaged together. This means 99 rushing yards would count as 9.9pts, Added to 118 passing yards (10.9 pts) would result in 20pts, not 19pts. This only affects team QB’s and OL’s

10. All forward passes will be awarded to the Team QB and any non-QB player that happens to throw a TD/Conversion. Passing yards, however, will not count for non-QB players. A player must have at least 5 passing attempts before his rushing/receiving yards are added to the team QB. Kickers and OL’s do not score TD’s. Commissioner has final say on all scoring issues.

 11. The number of divisions will depend on Draft Day attendance. The teams who draft together will each form a Win/Loss Record division. There is also one other Division which every team is in. This Division is based on total year points. So, this means every team is actually in two separate divisions. One based on Win/loss, one on Total Points.

12. We normally play a 14 week regular season, with the Fantasy playoffs occurring on week’s 15-17 of the NFL season. (this may change depending on Draft-Day attendance and this year’s league set-up)

The Playoff positioning system and brackets will be determined on Draft-Day.     The yearly High Scorer will always be the top seed.

The Tiebreakers will go as follows:

   Divisional                                         Playoff Positioning                      Playoff Game

  Head-to-Head W-L                            Head-to-Head W-L                     Complete score (including reserves)
              Divisional W-L                                    Total Points                                   Head-to-Head W-L
Head-to-Head points                           Head-to-Head points                    Total points
Coin flip                                                Coin flip                                       Coin flip

13. All statistics will be generated from NFL.com

They will be posted weekly at http://webpages.charter.net/atarihero/index.htm our official 2008 ad-free website.

14. Prize money will consist of ALL franchise fees, plus 75% of the money generated from post-Draft transactions. The other 25% goes to the commissioner to support the continuation of our awesome Fantasy league.

The distribution of the prize money will be determined on Draft-Day; after the number of teams is known. Below is an example from a previous year:

             12 teams   = $240 in franchise fees.

         $25 for each Division winner…x4 divisions= $100
                     $20 for each playoff win………x4 games = $80
Fantasy Bowl Winner gets $60+75% of the transaction money. (last year they won $181 just on the Bowl)

This makes $240+75% Transaction money (which totaled $120.50 last season)

Each franchise will add at least $20 to the prize money. So the more teams we have the bigger the payouts will become.

15. There were no changes from this year to last. If you have any questions about any of these rules just ask any of the current owners, or e-mail the commissioner. The final rule is to have fun.

16. Commissioner is not available for calls or questions when the Pittsburgh Steelers are playing.
