The Cherokee Foothills Bike Tour is an established ride that was first conceived in the 1970's. For the second year, the Greenville Spinners teams up with the Greenville Free Clinic to host this event. All profits will go entirely to the Free Clinic. The Free Clinic provides basic medical services to those who don't have access to healthcare you and I take for granted. This includes dental care. This is a family friendly event with four routes so riders of any ability can participate. Children and youth (under age 18) can participate at a 50% discount from the adult rate. Riders under age 16 must be accompanied by an registered adult. You can ride a century (100 miles) to a fun 10 mile ride with a 28 and 65 mile rides in between. Two SAG vehicles will be roving the routes to assist as needed. There are four rest stops stocked with refreshments and liquids. At the end of the event (served 11AM until 4PM) a BBQ lunch is also included by Henry's Smokehouse. Both Pork or Chicken and a vegetarian option will be available. When you preregister before the Sept. 23rd deadline a special 100% cotton beefy tee commerating the ride is included! There will be free refreshments and raffles of bike gear including a jersey signed by local pro cyclist George Hincapie the night before the event at pack pick-up. Now where can you get all this value for only $40 early registration?
The Free Clinic wants to showcase their downtown facility to the cycling community. The Friday Oct. 4th 5:00PM - 8:00PM is packet pickup at the Free Clinic. Packets will include your tee shirt (ordered during early registration), bib number, route sheet for the ride you signed up for along with other special offers and coupons. Best of all there will be door prizes like a signed George Hincapie jersey and other cycling items donated by local bike shops. There is also a silent auction on a few neat items like a ride and lunch with George Hincapie. Your chance of winning an item is very high! Refreshments will be served along with tours and videos to explain the work the Free Clinic performs for the community. We are also auctioning off a neat Bianchi City/Commuter bike on Ebay. Check it out at this link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360751385327 Take time before the ride to attend this event. It's well worth it.
