GREENVILLE SPINNERS FIRST FIFTY
Saturday ~ January 1, 2011 ~ 10:00 AM ~ Furman University
What better way to begin a new year by cycling with some like minded friends on New Years Day Hey, that ride is the Seventh Annual Greenville Spinners FIRST FIFTY!
One year we even had a local celebrity join our ride as we came through Marietta, SC. You might recognize that tall fellow in blue standing in the back:

Want to have fun as you start your new years fitness and weigh loss resolutions? This is a moderately paced ride through some of the best scenery in the area. While this ride was designed for touring and intermediate riders everyone is welcome! Just be sure you and your bike can cover the 55 miles distance. And don't forget the weather is cooler this time of year.
This ride starts at Furman University then heads towards Dacusville after crossing the Saluda River. We then head north toward Table Rock Mt. State Park where a break is set up. Take a moment to enjoy some snacks and the great view of Table Rock Mountain. After riding through Marietta, SC we take scenic Tubbs Mt. Road into Travelers Rest, SC. There is a 1.2 mile downhill with great views of Paris Mt. on this road! We then return to Furman to conclude the event. See the route at the very bottom of this page. We will provide route sheets at the start of the event.
We will have a break set up at Table Rock so your can refuel for the trip back and Mitch Miller, who provided SAG support on may Spinner's rides, will return once again for this event! We hope to have Ric Ramos, of The Great Escape to provide pre-ride mechanical support. There are several lunch options near our turnaround point at Table Rock Mountain but you may just want to fill up on the provided refreshments. While this ride is free we do ask for a $5 Safety Foundation donation from those who are not Greenville Spinners Club members. We do not make a profit from the ride.

Please dress appropriately for the expected cold weather - full gloves, jackets, long cycling pants, double socks, and ear warmers (balaclava) are some suggestions. Think layers.
