Downstairs Living Area

Enjoy this cozy den with it’s gas fireplace and central location.  The photo of the den is taken from the arched opening of the entry hall.  The massive stone fireplace (shown better below) is in keeping with the Spanish Colonial theme, as is the custom built walnut furniture and thick “adobe” wall look.  This room, with it’s built-in computer desk and high definition TV station, is central to the downstairs living area.  All downstairs room have 9 ft ceilings.

The beautiful stone fireplace is hand carved.  The face and hearth still need to be tiled.  Embossed glazed tiles and terra cotta hearth tiles (seen by clicking the photo to the left) are on order and should be installed within a few weeks.  The door to the right, leads to the bathroom (shown a few photos below), and is typical of the solid alder interior doors throughout the home.   The den also has a large walk-in storage closet.

This is a view of the front bedroom.  It is accessed either directly from the front entry hall, or through the massive double doors between the den and the bedroom (shown in the first photo above).  Due to the placement of this room, it can be used in a number of creative ways… As a parlor, billiard room, game room, or as a guest bedroom.  The view from the room is shown below…

The view through the arched window needs no further description.  Due to the R-30 insulation and the 6” framing, the room can be very quiet.  Opening the windows on either side, however, lets in the sounds of the fountain and ocean, lulling your guests to sleep.  This tranquil view is also seen from the den.

Continuing down the entry hall you access the very large back bedroom.  This room is quiet and separated from the traffic and hustle of the rest of the home.  As with all other rooms, this room is blessed with lots of western facing sun and a wonderful view of the Irish Hills.  There is direct access to the central bathroom and downstairs kitchenette (both seen below).  Private access to parking in the back allows your guests, or family members, the ability to come and go unnoticed.

The adjoining bathroom has a large shower and is brightly decorated with Talavera tiles.  Fixtures are oil rubbed bronze with a Spanish theme.  Flooring is textured and beautifully stained to simulate marble.  Baseboards are of Talavera tile.  Custom forged wrought iron lamps, mirror frames, and towel racks are not shown in this dated photo.  The den is to the left of the photo.  A door behind this picture leads to the large back bedroom.

The large back bedroom has access to either the front entry hallway (out the door to the right…) or straight through to the kitchenette and backyard.

This bright and cheery kitchenette is ideal for guests and teenagers and gives them a feeling of independence.  It also allows your growing teens immediate access to food without disturbing “Mom’s Kitchen”...  There is plenty of storage in this room.  A wall to the left has pantry cabinets from floor to ceiling.  The rear door to the backyard is to the left of the window.

If a kitchenette is not what you need, this room can  easily be turned into an art or project room.  We enjoy it as a kitchenette …
