The Journey

How is it I search aimlessly,
finding not that which I seek,
then stumble upon a treasure
that I was not looking for?
Is life not backwards
in its journey?
Should we not start out old
and wise evolving into the foolishness
and the fruitfulness of youth?
Why is it when the grave
comes into view, the marker yet
unclear, do we long for moments yet
to complete what we’ve only started?
Does not this passage seem swift
the longer one travels?
Does not the fruit of which we eat
become
bitter as it is savored,

“It Is in His abundance that we lack for nothing;
He supplies all of our needs.
It is in our wants we see not.”

Footsteps

That I may have left a footprint
for some soul to follow -
I pray he not follow
it exactly,
but make his own -
For mine stumble, grope
and often wonder - for
I am less than perfect;
thus he might get lost and I be the cause.
I wish no man a destiny

To blame another,
is to reveal something of ones own self.

Betty’s favorite Bible scripture is:
…May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love; and may you be able to feel and understand, as all God’s children should, how long, how wide, how deep, and how high his love really is; and to experience this love for yourselves, though it is so great that you will never see the end of it or fully know or understand it. And so at last you will be filled
up with God himself. - Ephesians:
3: 17 -19
