This LARGE family began in Alabama in the early-mid 1840's with the birth of
first child, James Nicholas Ansley (Pike Co AL). Mr. Ansley was reportedly from
Georgia; however, eldest son, James, listed his father as having been born in
Maryland, in the 1880 MS census. Another sources says Mr. Ansley's family owned
a hotel in GA. Nonetheless, searches of 1850 AL Census index fails to turn up
any reference to THIS family. We think Mr. Ansley had died by 1860 because
Elizabeth Smith Ansley and the children were in Lauderdale Co. MS in that
census and Elizabeth was listed as "head of household". If you, the
reader, have ANY information that relates to THIS family, we'd surely
appreciate your sharing it with the descendants of this family. For now, here's

around Boston and Cario. Joseph
Ansley was reportedly robbed/killed in Atlanta GA.
His widow returned to Jefferson Co GA and married a Mr. Dean. The only known
