Our summer, 2003 backyard project: The Water Garden

This summer, Chuck and I decided it would be nice to put in a large water garden in our backyard. We started in May, 2003 and finished up in August. The water garden measures about 18' by 15' and is 4' deep. We have two bullfrogs that decided our water garden would be their new home. Don't know where they came from. It continues to be a work in progress. Feel free to email me with any comments.

7/19/03: Laying down the liner. Under the liner there is about a ton of sand and "underlay" material to prevent rocks and roots from tearing the liner.

7/26/03 - We have filled the pond with water - it took over 3 days. We figure it took about 6,000 gallons of water.

7/26/03 - Chuck decided to cool off in the pond.
