Bad pictures!

Ha. Anyone can post a page of "good" digital pictures. Here are some bad ones. Yes, BAD. Exposed to the harsh light of public view. I've also indicated why I think that they turned out poorly.  If you want to see some intentionally? bad shots, well, I was going to send you to look at "Pier Roledons" site, but he appears to have removed his "bad" shots... or did he? as of 12/98, but go and look at his site anyway! Please, look at some other part of my site first, ha. These are mostly shots from the CP900 and CP950, reduced in size for the web. Now that I have a CP950, I'll be adding some bad shots from the 950 also. These are all "user error" shots, or just plain bad compostion, posted here as illustration and entertainment. They are not meant as criticisim of the cameras used.

Some fish. The darn things would not hold still.  The CP900 does not do very well with moving subjects in low light. due to the slow ISO rating and the inability to set shutter speed priority.. Plus you can see that one of my plants is cheap plastic and is floating free. I have not had much luck taking pictures of my fish tanks.

Washed out a bit by the flash on a close up. Flash wash out is my most common problem with close ups.

Same shot, but with a piece of Klenex (tm) in front of the flash to try to moderate it. Now it is too dark.

Picture

(Left) Burned out by the flash. I have to start taking a piece of tissue paper with me to cover the flash for closeups.

Ugh. That yellow color.  The Nikon auto white-balance hated the sodium vapor lights in this hanger. The mistake that I made was in trying to use the flash when too far away, which caused the camera to use the white balance for the flash. Other shots that I took on flash forced off in the same location looked fine. That's an F16. It broke  Those guys are trying to fix it. Something in the cockpit apparently.

Dark Snow! The CP900 seems to want to set the white point to 18%; which is a problem in this mostly white snow scene.

Same snow shot, with +1 exposure. This looks more like what you see with your eye.

Remember, get in close to your subject!

Like this?

Oh, Wow! (8 sec exposure of a shade with a hole in it).

If you move your eyes, it is just like a movie! Really!  Keep doing it! CP950 16 shot mode.

Yes sir, you don't need a flash with this new 950.

Hold still!

All you need is the 3x zoom for birds, Trust me. One of those red ones there.

Playing the ghost team (in gray).

What happened? Why is the ground purple? (I don't know)

Maybe it IS getting a little too dark out...
