Two Nice shots Of Orion

These two shots of Orion are so physically large that I put them on their own page. They have been highly compressed for the web.

These are both from 8 second exposures with the 950 taken in January and Feburary of 2000, the first at wide angle, the second with the TC-E2. I subtracted a dark frame, and adjusted levels to make them look their best. These are 1600x1200, so scroll around.

The Belt and Sword of Orion, note the M42 nebula. There is slight trailing in this 8 second exposure at 220 mm focal length, at least that proves that these are real stars.  I think that the star colors are really good.
