A coding we will go.. A coding we will go
T-minus 2 weeks before the holidays. I have accomplished alot of things this week, so i'm feeling pretty good about myself. At the beginning of the week i had 12 projects, now i have 6. Cut that sucker in half makes me feel good.
Installed the latest version of Telerik's Microsoft Content Managment Server Custom Placeholder on our server. The placeholder keeps getting better and better. It's nice to get great customization from them. It makes getting our users to follow a standard design procedure much more accomplishable.
Currenly finishing up 3 different .Net projects. I really hope Visual Studio 2005 fixes many of the problems that bug me in 2003. One big thing is VS mangling your code in switching between design and code view. What would i give for acutal true page rendering?
Another thing is managment of class references. I keep opening up other project from our other developers and find out that i'm missing a .dll. This drives me slowly mad. Has anyone else out there found a better way of managing a large amount of references across a developer group?
Getting ready to build another .net site. This time I'm redoing our internal store. It is still stuck in classic ASP, time to bring it up to par. Howerver i was told that i couldn't use any SQL DB to hold order information. I don't understand why we're so afraid of using databases. They're so easy to maintain and work like a charm. Looks like i'll get stuck writing the information out to an xml file, parsing it with xslt and sending it to the store administrator. It can never be the easy way. /me grumbles.
In sharepoint news i'm getting ready to experiment with the "MINT" MSCMS / Sharepoint placeholder. I'm planning on allowing the sharepoint user to upload document databases that are then published via mscms/sharepoint connector to our live intranet site. Get ready for a mess. If any of you have seen a better way of doing this let me know.
Visual Studio Tip: If you are in code view and make a code change make sure you save it. If you make a change go to view it in design mode and come back, kiss your properly aligned code goodbye. MAKE SURE YOU SAVE EVERY TIME.
Bought Return of the King(extended version), I Robot, and Collateral yesterday. I'm expecting some definate movie time this weekend. With it being cold outside, I don't have a problem with that.
