V for Vendetta

Finally got out to see a movie i've been waiting to see for a long time. I don't really get out that much... but i've really wanted to see this movie since last year.

I know after this weekend V will be number one at the box office. The thing that worries me is that people just went to see the movie because the screen play was "done by those matrix dudes". It will be really disappointing to know that people didn't take to heart an underlying meaning of this film.

The whole plot of V for Vendetta is that a so called "Terrorist" wants to blow up Parliment. The setting is 15 years in the future and a toltarian system bent on total control of the populace. Natalie Portman gives a great performance, as does Hugo Weaving and John Hurt.

The thing about this movie is that you can see overtones to what the George Bush, Repulican government has been doing to our own country. Starting wars for no reasons, lying to the public, wiretapping and monitoring all aspects of life. V shows a much harder version of what we are dealing with today and I can only hope that we never see this kind of treatment in our country.

With the religious overtones and judgemental aspects of politics, this movie can really show what a government can do to a populace. As V spoke "People shouldn't fear their government, government should fear the people" This is very VERY true and we don't see that currently, with big corporations buying our own government, our rights to privacy and self determination destroyed, because we are so scared and dumb...

go see this movie and give it some thought...

Rating 5/5 (Very few movies get this rating from me)
