an act revising certain provisions of the home education statutes
last updated 10/14/05, 8:00 AM
Analysis
This bill removes the requirement that parents provide information about the curriculum
at the time of notification.
It also removes the definition of the contents of a portfolio,
the requirement to provide
"planned and supervised instructional and related educational activities",
and some due process for disagreements between parents and participating agencies
at the time of notification.
The House Education Committee recommends amending the bill to retain the definition of the
contents of a portfolio.
The House adopted the Education Committee's report. The bill was amended.
The Senate Education Committee recommends amending the bill to require parents to submit
plans for a curriculum once only. It also eliminates all other provisions of the bill.
