AN ACT requiring a school
district to disclose the percentage of its total education budget used for
direct support of education.
Be
it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court
convened:
1 School Meetings and
Officers; Budget. Amend RSA 197:5-a to read as follows:
197:5-a Budget.
I. The school board, if the school
district is not controlled by the municipal budget act, shall prepare a budget
for the annual or any special meeting upon a form prescribed and provided by
the commissioner of revenue administration and shall post the same with and at
the same time as the warrant for the meeting is posted.
II. The school board
shall include, within the budget, a separate page detailing the amount of
direct support of education, for each component of direct support, and a sum
total of all direct support of education as a percentage of the total education
budget. In this paragraph, “direct support of education” means teachers’
salaries, teachers’ benefits, teacher’s aides’ salaries, physical plant costs,
transportation, and utilities.
2 Effective Date. This act shall
take effect 60 days after its passage.
