Medical and Dental clinics are
set up on Ambergris Caye and its neighboring islands, including the mainland of
Belize. Groups are assigned to each of these various clinics and a portion of
each participant's trip may involve an overnight stay at one of these other
locations. The setting of the clinic sites vary from school classrooms to any
open space available for our dental and medical work. Various clinic sites include
Ambergris Caye, Banana Bank, Sarteneja, Caye Caulker and others.

We try to make the clinic set up as
comfortable as possible. As for supplies, each participant has to provide their
own instruments and materials used. A specialist is typically paired with a
general practitioner prior to the trip so they can communicate with each other
and share supplies during their week experience.

As mentioned earlier, one of the
main goals of the trip is to practice dentistry and medicine in a spiritual
way. From a dental perspective, the focus is restorative and preventative
dentistry. From a medical perspective, the focus is primary care
medicine.

There is alot of equipment involved
in restorative dentistry. We take everything we need in order to see
patient's. There is nothing locally for us to use. Because the Belize Mission
Project has been in existence for so many years, we have begun to purchase our
own equipment.

We now own our own dental chairs. They are no more than
glorified chase lounge chairs, but they are quite functional.
