MANs Dogpatch Run:

Shirley we need another pitcher down at this end of the bar.

Wildflower had a couple of special guests fly into town - Her sis, Sparky, and Pooder. 'Course she wanted to roll out the red carpet for 'em and invited folks off the MANS list to hoist beverages and consume greasy burgers at the Dogpatch Tavern in Boonsboro, MD.

Weather was perfect as we set off from Virginia. Clear skies, a little nip in the air - a perfect fall day. Mary and I took US50 out of town, and took Evergreen Mills Rd across Loudin County to Leesburg. US15 took us across the Potomac, and a left on Mountville Rd took us over some foothills through some nice sweepers into Jefferson. From there, Old Middletown Rd took us to ...
Middletown, where we slipped under I-70 on Harmony Rd. A relaxing route through farm country over rolling hills and back county roads. When we r
olled into Dogpatch, we saw a crowd of friendly faces on the upper level balcony.

Occupying that upper deck, with a commanding view of US 40 and Greenbriar State Park, were Wildflower, Sparky and Pooder, Bill Mann and Laurel, Peter and Linda Fountain, Ray Burns, and Bill Berg. After exchanging welcomes, I was informed that I already violated established Dogpatch procedures by entering the porch from the wrong direction. I apparently followed that up by violating yet more procedures concerning the ordering of food and drink (leave it to Washington bureaucrats to establish rules, procedures and responsibilities about eating and drinking in a biker bar ... Jeesh!)

Despite said violations, food and beveridges were consumed, and stories were told and challenged. Sparkey claimed her nick came from the fact that her r.m.h postings went thru a sparc server. Her sister suggested that it came from the sparks that flew out of her hair when she got pissed ...

She seemed so nice, I couldn't imagine such a scene ...

As folks began to filter out, we said our goodbyes and hit the road. Despite the weather-guessers pessimistic prognostications, the excellent wx held out for the rest of the afternoon, and we enjoyed a relaxing cruise home. A great ride through great country, great weather, met some great folk with whom we shared food and drink ... Don't get any better than that! Thanks Kathy for putting it together!
