Rawlings (Adirondack), 1946-1979

Year Comments Illustration
1946-1950

The words "McLAUGHLIN-MILLARD, INC. DOLGEVILLE NEW YORK" form a diamond-shaped center label. "ADIRONDACK" is centered inside the diamond, with "NORTHERN" above it and "WHITE ASH" below it. "NO. appears under "DOLGEVILLE" and "302" appears under "NEW YORK."

The words "Flexible Whip Action" appear right of the center label.

There are two versions of barrel labeling. The first has "PERSONAL" above the player's name and "MODEL" below it. The other version has no words above or below the player's block-letter name.
1951-1957

Among the center label changes was a narrower font. "Northern White Ash" appears in script entirely above "ADIRONDACK" while the "302" appears below it.

"REG. U. S. PAT. OFF." is added above the diamond while "MADE IN U.S.A." is added below.

There were several barrel variations during this era. It could say "PERSONAL" above the player's name and "MODEL" below, as before. Or, it could have nothing above the name and "LIGINIZED" below. Or, it could say, "PERSONAL MODEL" above the name and "LIGINIZED" below. Finally, it could say, "ADIRONDACK" above the player's name and "PERSONAL MODEL" below.
1958-1960

"McLAUGHLIN-MILLARD, INC." was replaced with, "ADIRONDACK BATS, INC." The "REG. U. S. PAT. OFF." disappeared from above the center brand, and lines were added to enhance the "diamond" effect.

To the right of the center label, the "Flexible" in "Flexible Whip Action" was dropped in 1960.

There were two barrel variations. The first had, "ADIRONDACK" above the player's name and "PERSONAL MODEL" below it.

The second replaced "PERSONAL MODEL" with "FLAME TREATED," which was framed in a jagged box intended to suggest flames.

1961-1967

The only change to the center label is that the block-letter "ADIRONDACK" now is written in script with only the "A" capitalized.

The barrel has three variations: the same two from 1958-69, plus a third version that has "ADIRONDACK" above the player's name and "FLAME TREATED" below the name and between two flame icons.

1961-1963

Just like the 1961-67 version, except the stamping is white instead of black. Also, the only barrel variations are the carry-overs from 1958-60.

1968-1970

The center label was simplified significantly in 1968. The only words left are "Adirrondack" in a less-fancy script, the "302" underneath it, and "DOLGEVILLE NEW YORK USA" in much smaller letters. A stylized "A" logo appeared above "Adirondack," prompting many collectors to refer to this as the "tee pee" label. A rare variation of the center label, made in 1968 only, has "ADIRONDACK" in all capital, block letters.

"BIG STICK" makes its first appearance on the barrel above the player's name. In one version, "FLAME TREATED" (again, between two flame icons) is used. A second version festures "PERSONAL MODEL" below the player's name.
1971-1979

By 1971, the "tee pee" was gone, replace with, "MADE IN USA." "DOLGEVILLE NEW YORK USA" also was erased, and the "302" was reduced in size.

1971

This label is exactly like the 1971-79 version, with one rare variation. Some bats made in 1971 feature two "302" brands -- one above "Adirondack" and one below.
