Blog: September 2013

September 1, 2013. I noticed today that Molina's Marucci bat has a cherry handle and natural barrel. Not sure how long he's been swinging that because it can be tough to distinguish dark cherry from black, especially when it's covered in pine tar... I also noticed that Yadi's helmet has what appears to be a chip out of it where the bill, ear flap and dome merge. There also are chips missing from a few other helmets, including Freese's, Holliday's and even Joe Kelly's... I listed a few bats for sale on GUU. If you're interested in one or more, please let me know.

September 4, 2013. It seems several members of the Cincinnati Reds use Louisville Sluggers, I assume because of the city's proximity to Louisville. So, it was interesting tonight that three Cards who typically swing other brands -- Beltran (Marucci), Holliday (Old Hickory) and Miller (Tucci) -- were all using LS lumber. I wonder if the LS rep was in town pushing his wares.

September 5, 2013. Ryan Jackson swung a Max Bat with a black barrel and cherry handle.

September 15, 2013. Audry Perez made his MLB debut wearing #63. Interestingly, he is the third Perez to wear those digits, following Mike and Chris.

NOTE: I was unable to record bat usage and uniform variations during most of September.
