All Fee's, team rosters and release forms must be Turned in Prior to 1st league match NO EXCEPTIONS. A parental release/waiver is also necessary for anyone under the age of 18 that wishes to play. Additions and changes to a team roster can be made the 5th week.
Opi's will NOT cancel league plat due to inclement weather. Team capitions should communicate their desire to reschedule with Opi's ASAP. If only one team cancels individually and the opponent shows up to play, the Match will be forfeited by the team that cancelled. Matches can be rescheduled to another time agreed upon by both teams-please check with Opi's to reserve the courts. (Referees will NOT be provided for rescheduled matches)
*For 6 players teams, there must be at least 4 players on the court at the scheduled start time or the team forfeits the first game. If there are not 4 players after 10 minutes, that team forfeits the match. Late players may start in any position. They must wait until the next side out or point to join.
*Co-ed league teams can play with 3 mean & 3 women or 2 men/2 women-3 men/2 women - 3 women/2men any other combinations must be ok'd by your opponent.
*Captains will "ROSHAMBO" (Rock/paper/scissors) to determine serve, receive, or which side of the court they want at the beginning of the match. For games 2 & 3 teams will exchange courts and the WINNING team will serve.
*All matches will be 3 games. Rally scoring to 21, must win by 2, cap at 23. You must win the game on your serve
*Referee will signal the serve & the server must serve the ball within 5 seconds. The server must be in the sand when the ball is touched by their hand. If the server lets the ball drop it is a side out. The server may catch the ball.
*There is NO blocking of a serve. A player may set (open hand contact) the serve. Double contact of a hard driven serve is permitted.
*A legal hit is contact with the ball by a player's body above the waist & including just a foot (kick) which does not allow the ball to visibly come to rest. No catches or lifts are allowed. Flat palm hits MUST have hands connected or it is an illegal double hit. Teams may question an opponent's hit AFTER the point is over - if unable to agree on the call; we suggest you replay the point. The referee can't see everything.
*A ball touching the ceiling is considered a live ball unless the ball hits the ceiling & goes over the net. A ball touching the heaters or the side walls is a dead ball.
*Players may NOT reach over the net to hit a ball, except on the FOLLOW THROUGH of a spike
*Anyone may spike the at any time other than a serve.
*Substitions will be made in the front left unless there is an injury involved. A man must substitute for a man and a woman for a woman.
*Time Outs may be requested by the team captain, during dead balls only. Once a server calls the score, a time out is NOT allowed. Each team will be allowed one 60-second time out per game.
*Please refer unsportsmanlike conduct to the manager on duty. He/she will reserve the right to issue warnings &/or disqualify players. Excessive unsportsmanlike conduct may result in disqualification from further participation &/or you may be asked to leave the premises. Please respect our referees.
*Only players listed on the team roster are eligible. If a team has played with an ineligible player, a forfeit will be declared for the games played. Becky has the final judgement.
*At the end of a season, if a tie exists for 1st place, head to head records will decide the winner. If a tie still remains, there will be a playoff match (best of 3 games).
*All team captains & players are required to know the rules of the game and abide by them. The captain is responsible for the proper conduct of their team.
*All players must officially register with Opi's prior to playing in a match. Each player must sign the waiver prior to participation in any league.
*To minimize injures, the whistle will be blown on any player that makes contact with any cement areas, the net separating the 2 courts, or any walls, causing a dead ball. The team that the whistle is blown against loses that point or serve.
*Referee has the final say regarding any play PLEASE DON'T argue with the referee this is for fun!!!
*Standings will be compiled by Opi's according to each team's game (not match) record.
*We reserve the right to move teams from league to league on the same night, to better balance the league.
