Code of Conduct |
This Code of Conduct is intended to establish standards for the personal conduct of
members of the Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, Connecticut Chapter VI. Unless otherwise restricted or required in their law enforcement duties, Blue Knights of this Chapter pledge;1) To advance the purposes of the Club: to provide for the mutual assistance,
enjoyment, entertainment, education, physical, mental, and social benefit of its members and the general public; to promote and advance the sport and safety of motorcycling; to serve the interests of motorcycle owners and users; to promote by example and any other acceptable means the safe use, operation, and enjoyment of motorcycles; to develop a fraternal spirit between law enforcement personnel and the general public; to practice at all times the motto of the Club: “Ride with pride;” to wear a motorcycle helmet while riding a motorcycle in a Blue Knights Chapter, Conference, or International event or when riding a motorcycle at any time as a Blue Knight (whenever wearing a Club vest), whether required by law or not.2) To keep themselves clean and presentable;
to conduct themselves at all times, both as motorcyclists and as Blue Knights, in such a manner as to command respect and confidence that they may merit the voluntary commendation of all citizens with whom they come in contact with in order that credit may be reflected upon the Club; not to display when identified as a Blue Knight any clothing, pin, patch, or embroidery containing any foul or vulgar language or image; to be governed in their personal conduct by general ethical standards; to qualify as voters, and to vote their convictions as citizens on all public questions and political races.3) To conduct themselves in a spirit of fairness to other Blue Knights, law
enforcement persons, and the general public; to treat fairly all persons regardless of race, religion, gender, disability, age, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, or national origin; to avoid injuring others, their property, reputation, or employment by false or malicious action.4) To uphold all laws, ( as part of the motorcycling image, especially motorcycle
equipment, drug use and possession, firearms and other weapons, and alcohol consumption), where they reside or may be visiting; not to engage in illegal activities, nor knowingly cooperate with anyone so engaged; to avoid real or perceived association or contact with any enterprise or person of questionable character.5) To submit through proper channels constructive suggestions for the betterment of
the Club; to seek, accept, and offer honest criticism, to acknowledge and correct errors, and to credit properly the contributions of others; to initiate appropriate disciplinary measures when observing a violation of this Code of Conduct by another Blue Knight.6) Not to give, sell, or allow the reuse of any Club emblem, seal, badge, or other
item incorporating the words “Blue Knights” or any of the Club’s registered marks except as distinctly marked as an event, Chapter, or Conference.7) As Blue Knights, to refrain from solicitation as law enforcement officers;
not to represent themselves as law enforcement officers unless actually employed as such.8) To respect and comply with any Rules or Code of Conduct or Ethics as
proscribed by their law enforcement employers.This Code of Conduct is not intended as an exhaustive guide for the conduct of
members of Connecticut Chapter VI. Members who violate any of this Code may be
subject to discipline by the Chapter, the Northeast Conference, or International. This
Code is not intended as a basis for civil liability or criminal prosecution.
