General Rules of the Guild

  1. Always treat Guildmates and other players with the utmost respect.  Be it “In Character” or “Out of Character”, harassment of another player is not only against the Rules within UO, but also inappropriate behavior within our unit, and will not be tolerated what so ever.

  2. No Out of Character (OOC) trash talking.  Banter between enemies in a Role Playing setting is acceptable, but within limits.

  3. No Looting the corpses of Allied or Enemy players under any circumstance.  Zero Tolerance.  (Any player on the Felucca Facet not associated with an Allied or Enemy guild is fair game)

  4. Try to stay in character at all times.  Whenever you interact with another player using your guilded character (BL or OBL), you are expected to be In Character.

  5. Advance PvP combat notification.  In it’s simplest terms, never simply walk up to an “Orange” player and start fighting.  All RP PvP will take place within a Role Play context.  If someone doesn’t wish to fight, they will make this clear based on their responses.  Honor someone’s choice not to engage in a fight, made obvious by his or her non-aggressive responses.
    1. For the purpose of “Assassinations”, advanced notice is not a possible normal type behavior.  Therefore, only sanctioned assassinations are to be carried out.  In other words, your Guild Leadership will specifically notify you when you are to carry out an assassination.  In situations such as these, OOC notice will already have been provided to the individual’s own leadership by your Guild Leaders before hand.  This will be done in a manner not to “pre-warn” the victim.

  6. You are expected to follow the orders of those superior to your own rank and/or position.

  7. You are expected to report any problems or issues you have with other players to your direct superior.  In cases where the problem exists with that specific individual, you may forward your complaint to a higher level as you see fit.  Do not address in game conflicts yourself (except in the blatant cases where a Game Master needs to be paged, and even then do not respond to the goads you are experiencing).  Conflicts between guilds shall always be handled between Guildmasters.

  8. You are expected to follow the Chain of Command at all times.  This is for the benefit of your direct leadership, as much as it is to help your problem get resolved quickly.
    1. The standard chain of command is as follows:

                                                              i.      Oshiego

ii.      Assigned Sensei (if you have one)

                                                          iii.      Wake Commander

                                                           iv.      Asst. Guildmaster

                                                             v.      Guildmaster

Blue Lotus Membership FAQ

Q:

Are you guys still taking new applicants?

A:

Absolutely.  We accept new ninjas of any skill level.

Q:

Do I need to have or make a ninja in order to join the Blue Lotus Clan?

A:

You need to have at least one ninja in the Blue Lotus Clan in order to have “other” character types in the guild.  It is also important that you realize we expect you to Role Play your ninja during guild activities almost exclusively.  Any Samurai you may have brought into the guild shouldn’t be whom you choose to attend meetings and hunts with.

Q:

Would I start out as a Blue Lotus Clan [BL] member?

A:

No.  All new members start off in the Order of the Blue Lotus [OBL], which is our secondary guild, used for training and evaluation.

Q:

So all the people listed as being OBL members are trainees for the BL guild?

A:

No.  The OBL is comprised of the following:

1.      Ninja in training.  Normally designated with the title “Oshiego” which means student.

2.      Blue Lotus Officers have alt characters in the OBL so they may recruit people into the OBL guild (since their main characters are BL).

3.      Craftsmen or any non-ninja type characters who provide a supporting role to the guild itself.

4.      Any ninja characters not willing to participate in the Role Play PvP combat.

Q:

How would I become a full member of the Blue Lotus Clan?

A:

Members of both the BL and the OBL are part of one big guild.  But in order to move to full Blue Lotus Clan member status, your performance in combat would be evaluated, as well as your ability to Role Play effectively as a ninja.

Q:

Role Play?  What’s that mean?

A:

We don’t just wear ninja garb and hack at stuff using ninja weapons.  This guild is about “acting” like a Ninja while in game.  This is something we’ll teach you, and that might take some practice.

Q:

You mean I gotta always walk around acting like a real ninja all the time?

A:

No.  We do have our moments when we’re together as friends where we let our hair down.  But for the most part, especially when others can see us, we want everyone to role-play their character at all times.  This is what makes this guild more than just a “dungeon hunt” guild.  We formed the Blue Lotus Clan to give people an opportunity to “act” as if their character was an actual ninja.

Philosophical FAQ of the Blue Lotus Clan

Q:

So you guys are a bunch of Ninja.  Does that mean you’re all evil, and run around chopping people’s heads off?

A:

Not at all.  We Role Play an honorable Ninja Clan. The Honor of our Clan is the virtue we hold in the highest regard.  Damaging this honor is the quickest way to be removed from our ranks.

But yes, we do chop off people’s heads.  Just only when it’s absolutely necessary....heh

Q:

So you guys are honorable and on the side of “good”.  How do you perform as ninja?  How can you assassinate people and still be good?

A:

We are assassins.  That is who we are.  Our behavior as a “good guy” guild might not be the same as say a group of Holy Knights.  This is because we consider the philosophy of what is “right” and “wrong” separate from what is “good” and what is “bad”.  Some actions we perform might be viewed as being “wrong”, where we consider them simply as being “bad”.  Our perspective is that some actions seen as being “bad” are necessary in the support of what is “right”.

Q:

I’m still confused.  Who do you consider as being “wrong”?

A:

That is a difficult question.  What each group does, is usually what they consider “right” towards their own goals.  The exception to this usually involves guilds that are not role-playing a standard “evil” guild.  But who fight without honor, or who abuse those players that are easily taken advantage of.  Guilds who choose to fight without honor, be they Good or Evil, are not considered organizations we choose to associate with under any circumstances.  That is, at least where we have a choice in the matter.

Q:

What I’m hearing is that you guys must stride onto the battlefield like a bunch of Samurai, but dressed in Ninja pajamas?

A:

No.  We do not restrict our perception of “honorable” combat to the grand duels that a Samurai would prefer.  We use our skills in deception, confusion, speed, and concealment to the fullest advantage possible.  For us to do otherwise would be foolish.  A quick kill achieved through the arts practiced by the ninja are what we are all about.

Blue Lotus Warfare FAQ

Q:

Does the Blue Lotus Clan do PvP?

A:

Yes.  The OBL engages in PvP, but only in training or “sparing” type context, and normally only with the members of the OBL & BL guilds.  The BL itself does do PvP with other guilds, but only within the established Role Play Community on the Great Lakes Shard.  We only engage in “Guild War” agreements with other guilds dedicated to following the established rules of combat and behavior.

Q:

Would I have to fight in PvP if I join the guild?

A:

Not at all.  As long as you’re assigned to the OBL guild, you won’t be required to participate in PvP at all.  Training or Sparing type PvP is consensual.  It would start only at the agreement of both parties.  And would stop at the first request either party makes for it to conclude.  However, membership in the BL guild would require exposure to the Role Play PvP community, and thus you will be called upon to fight.

Q:

My character is in OBL, but I still see others as being Orange.  That means we’re at war with them and they can attack me, right?

A:

Yes and No.  The Blue Lotus Clan [BL] is in an alliance with other guilds we fight side by side with against a common foe(s).  Being in the OBL means you don’t have to worry about being engaged by those same enemy guilds.  But in order to facilitate “sparing”, the status of war between the OBL and the BL facilitates the ability each unit has for engaging in training type combat.

Q:

Someone in Trammel who was obviously warred to me, attacked me completely out of the blue.  I want revenge!  Do you guys have a “Hot Line” for getting together to go take care of folks like this?

A:

This is a VERY serious matter.  And the answer to what occurred is quite simple.  Write down everything you can about the person(s), such as name, guild, guild abbreviation, where you were, ect.  Then pass that information along to the next person above you in your chain of command.  This will either be a Shodan in your division (Wake) or the Wake Commander himself.  They will pass the occurrence up the chain of command.  And your Guild Leaders will contact the Guild Leader of the offending person(s).  Their leaders, not by anyone in the Blue Lotus Clan, will handle the matter.  The whole reason we choose to fight in a Role Play setting is to prevent this exact type of behavior.  But sometimes people get confused and make mistakes.  It’s not our job to discipline the members of another unit or guild.  That’s what their leaders are for.

Q:

So am I to assume the Lotus Guild Leaders have a way to contact each and every Guild Leader for whom they fight with?

A:

Absolutely yes.  We do not enter into a war with units unless there have been clear channels of communication already established.
