BILL MOORE'S Christmas for Adolescents

Be an Elf for Bill Moore ’s Christmas for Adolescents Gift Drive

Operation Santa Surprize 2007

With the holiday season fast approaching; it's time to think about being an Elf for Bill Moore 's Christmas for Adolescents Gift Drive to Benefit Those Adolescents and Families In Need.  Each year, my gift drive has raised gifts from you and your colleagues to provide gifts for needy adolescents and there families who would otherwise go without.

I am contacting you and your business this year for a donation to my annual "Christmas for Adolescent".  Back in 1997 while working for the Department of Social Services as an adolescent social worker it was apparent to me that most of the donations received from the public were for younger children and most of the adolescents were left without a holiday gift.  So began the Bill Moore 's Christmas for Adolescents Gift Drive .

All donations received are disbursed to adolescents and families in need through the Masonic Military Support Fund, Route 9 Veterans Forum, Arbour Counseling Services, South Worcester Neighborhood Center and Veteran Organizations that I am affiliated with so that these adolescents and military children and families can have an enjoyable holiday.  Our Veterans and there families deserves our respect, gratitude and deepest thanks.

Money donations can be made out to Bill Moore ,

Christmas for Adolescents

Every one knows that it's not easy being a teenager these days.  But imagine facing the challenges of adolescents in addition to having a parents serving in a war zone or bearing a tragic past of physical, emotional, sexual abuse, abandonment or neglect.  For hundreds of Greater Worcester teens in Foster Care or living in there own home it's a daily struggle to overcome fear, sadness, low self esteem and feeling of isolation while striving to achieve academically and personally.

I am making every effort to make their holiday special and memorable in through Operation Santa Surprize 2007.  This program is successful because of the on-going community support.  It is reassuring to know that our community can still find it in there hearts to give so unselfishly even with so much uncertainty in our world.

I can provide you with a first name and age of an adolescent so that you may shop for that individual child or I can provide an entire family in need of assistance.  Please contact me at your earliest convenience!  Please visit my new web site below my name that will provide additional information about me and my community service.

Suggestions: International Phone Cards, Disposable Camera’s, Gift Certificates for Mall, Hair Care Salons, Grocery stores, Heating Oil Companies, AAA membership, Gas Cards, Movie Passes, Clothing, Books, Videos, Portable CD players, Bikes, Winter Coats to name a few items from past years.

Volunteer Work
The only thing more I can add about my volunteering is the work with the Disabled American Veterans and the Forget-Me-Not Can Drive each May. The money collected goes back to the chapter to support our veterans programs like the Worcester VA Outpatient Clinic, Brockton VA Hospital Outreach Program, West Side Nursing Home, HSC, DAV Day, and other programs. Veterans helping veterans!

I also assist and counsel veterans with opening VA Service Connected Disability Claims, applying for VA Educational and Chapter 31 Vocational Rehabilitation Training, making referrals to VA Mental Health & Vet-Centers and signing Disabled Veterans up to join our organization, I have been recognized for the past 3 years (Bronze Status) for signing new disabled veterans up. I also assist in getting the word out for veteran bills in the Legislation that will assist veterans.

George's Story

When George came home on Mother’s Day with a bouquet of flowers and said, “Happy Mother’s Day”, Alberta, his adoptive mother was speechless. “When I first saw George,” said Alberta, “he was the saddest little boy, he would just sit and rock.”

Alberta and George found one another when George was in foster care and Alberta was doing family day care for a local social service agency. George, who is autistic, had never made any emotional connections or shown any signs of affection. Alberta was drawn to George. She says, I think George was a gift from God to me”. But it took a while for Alberta to get up the courage to ask George’s social worker if she could adopt him. “I thought, I’m too old and they probably won’t let me adopt him anyway because I’m black and he’s white.”

Today, George is an active, fun loving sixteen year old, thanks to Alberta’s loving care and to the attention of Bill Moore. Bill is a part time respite worker for Seven Hills Family Services. It was Bill who took George out on Mother’s Day and then stopped at a roadside stand so George could buy flowers. Bill and George get together once a week to play soccer, or basketball, take in a movie or go to the mall. “They hit it off very well,” says Alberta. “George loves him. He can’t wait for him to come and get him.”

“The flowers; that really touched me,” said Alberta. “I’ve never had anybody do that. It will always be in a special place in my heart.”

Bill and George’s unique bond has brought a family closer.
