Artie Lissie Allen

 

    Artie Lissie (Ervin) Allen, 83, born September 15, 1909, died Wednesday, April 7 at 9:30 p.m. at the Methodist Hospital of McKenzie.

    Services were at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 9 at Enon Baptist Church in McKenzie, where she was a member, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery of Trezevant, with Brummitt Funeral Home in charge.

    Mrs. Allen the widow of Tommie Allen, leaves six daughters. Pearl Gillette of Lebanon, Carolyn Rodel of Loogotee, Indiana, Helen Crowder , Betty Hewitt and Kay Beal, all of McKenzie, and Sarah Bartholomew of Bartlett; seven sons, Howard Allen of Lebanon, Gene Allen of Whittier, California, William Allen of Trezevant, Jimmy Allen of Milan, Thomas Allen, Richard Allen and Rex Allen, all of McKenzie.  There are 36 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Pallbearers were the sons of Mrs. Allen, honorary pallbearers were the grandsons.  A poem written by her daughter, Sarah, titled "To Mom The Rose of all Roses", was read by Rev. Joe Easton.  A grandson Robert Michael Allen (son of Jimmy Allen) sang "I'll Rise Again" and Raymond Easton sang "Precious Memories:, with Rev. Joe Easton and Rev. Dennis Beal in charge of the service.
